The Hanbury Players/ Hanbury Singers

The Hanbury Players are a group of like-minded people with varying skills and abilities, who perform a bi-annual Pantomime in the 150-seat Memorial Hall. Our Panto in 2018 was  "Ali Baba and the 40 Fabulous Thieves'. Previous Pantos have been 'Robinson Crusoe' in Feb 2016, 'Jack and the Beanstalk' in 2014, 'Cindarella' in 2012 and 'Dick Whittington' in 2010.

Each Panto involves all age groups from children to pensioners, some of whom sing, some of whom dance and many of whom act the various parts in the performance. We are lucky to have an excellent reputation in the local area and usually give 4 sell-out performances in the February/March half-term.

Rehearsals take place in the Memorial Hall on Fridays at 7.30pm and also on Sundays at 3.30pm.

Costumes are hired in for the actors in order to give a professional look. Some of our performers also take part in productions in the Garrick Theatre in Lichfield and with Sutton Coldfield Amateur Dramatic Society.

Our Musical Director is Brian Draper who also plays the organ in many of our local churches.

Our Director is Stuart Draper.

In the alternate years, we provide the entertainment at a Supper/Cabaret over 2 nights, also in the Memorial Hall. There are upwards of 30 songs performed, many with dance. A skit or two helps to keep our audience laughing.

The Hanbury Players are a non-profit making organisation, with proceeds going to local charities.

Our last production was 'Aladdin' in Feb 2020 and the 4 performances attracted audiences totalling close to 600 people. Our thanks go to Stuart Draper, Brian Draper, Becky Skeet-Upton (Choreographer) and all of the cast for their time, effort and wonderful skills.

Our next Pantomime might be in Feb 2022. If you love singing or have a dream of acting, do contact Judy Harrison 01283 575421.
